📋 Description

• Design, integrate, test, and deliver flight control systems or mission-critical onboard software for unmanned aerial systems (UAS) • Develop, modify, and tune guidance and control systems for fixed-wing aircraft • Develop and modify navigation systems using sensor fusion of 6-DOF IMU, magnetometer, GNSS, pressure, and ranging sensors • Develop 6-DOF and Hardware-in-the-Loop simulation environments • Perform simulation, analysis, control, and testing on 6-DOF motion platforms for autonomous UAS • Design and develop flight or mission-critical onboard software for unmanned systems • Develop guidance, navigation and control, mission sequencing, payload control, redundancy and contingency management, packet encoding/decoding, serial protocol conversion, simulations, GUIs, and aircraft subsystem control • Develop embedded software and modify software to adjust flight behaviors • Collaborate on multi-disciplinary, multi-language software projects • Participate in code reviews, flight testing, customer presentations, bench testing, Hardware-in-the-Loop testing, and field testing • Travel locally, interstate, and internationally for field testing and customer demonstrations • Collaborate with Systems, Software, Mechanical, and Electrical engineering disciplines • Design software architecture, interfaces, and communication gateways for external autonomy software services • Implement functionality using a model-based approach • Perform software verification and validation, including writing test cases and procedures • Develop, implement, and document data and software application test plans • Support data and reporting activities, including recurring reports, analyses, data validation, and documentation

🎯 Requirements

• BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Aerospace, Controls engineering, or another relevant discipline, plus at least 12 years of professional experience developing MATLAB/Simulink control systems with auto-code experience; or MS in Controls or Aerospace Engineering plus 2 years of experience • Embedded code experience preferred • US Citizenship • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance • Experience developing physics-based 6-DOF simulations and motion platforms • Experience with Gazebo or similar simulation tools, MATLAB/Simulink, C, C++, and Python • Experience developing scripts to run batch processes • Experience post-processing simulation or flight-test data and writing report summaries • Experience developing guidance and autonomy algorithms; experience in denied environments preferred • Minimum two years of demonstrated, hands-on professional experience in model-based design/testing using Simulink/Stateflow, relevant guidance/navigation/control software, hardware-in-the-loop simulators, or related listed areas • Familiarity with software configuration management tools, version control systems, defect tracking tools, and peer review required • Successful completion of a comprehensive background check, security investigation, and drug screening required for employment
