• Provide strategic and operational leadership for the academic department • Guide faculty, programs, and initiatives toward excellence • Shape the department’s vision and foster a shared understanding of faculty success • Lead faculty workload planning, scheduling, performance, and development efforts • Teach asynchronous undergraduate and graduate courses to adult learners • Lead development of programs and courses • Supervise and mentor associate faculty • Support students and institutional improvement toward student success goals • Facilitate faculty contracts and address faculty concerns • Develop relationships with external partners • Review departmental success metrics and create continuous improvement strategies • Develop, organize, and monitor faculty success initiatives • Organize review of faculty teaching quality and development plans • Participate in curriculum success initiatives and divisional strategic plans • Attend department, college, and university meetings • Participate in shared governance activities and committees • Create contracts and establish workload with faculty • Oversee departmental faculty scheduling • Lead search and hiring committees and make departmental hiring decisions • Create and monitor the departmental budget with college leadership • Oversee program review, accreditation, and licensure efforts • Provide academic and operational oversight of undergraduate and master’s leadership programs • Provide academic oversight of doctoral faculty and doctoral program expectations • Guide and support doctoral faculty across professional and research doctoral programs • Develop and improve courses and innovative teaching practices • Enhance student learning and success outcomes • Develop and improve course materials, media, assessments, and instructional modalities • Review, support, and mentor associate faculty instructional quality • Lead continuous improvement of curriculum and instructional design • Coordinate holistic student support initiatives with academic and student-support teams • Monitor and report initiatives related to students’ connection to the university • Deliver high-quality online instruction • Connect learning to workforce skills and professional advancement • Foster a supportive learning environment for adult learners • Prioritize student learning, achievement, and timely feedback • Communicate with students and respond promptly to inquiries • Ensure academic integrity and uphold university policies • Collaborate with academic support teams to enhance student experience
• Earned doctorate degree in a discipline aligned with the academic program • Experience in academic leadership, including faculty development, curriculum oversight, or departmental operations • Evidence of adequate training, depth of knowledge in a particular specialty, and capacity to undertake high-quality teaching and service • Collaborative and student-centered approach to leadership and instructional support • Experience contributing to or leading strategic planning and implementation in academic programs • Ability to provide visionary and strategic leadership • Skill in faculty workload planning, performance evaluation, and development within an online workforce academic environment • Ability to oversee course scheduling, faculty contracts, and resource allocation • Strong organizational and decision-making skills • Ability to build and sustain collaborative relationships • Skill in resolving faculty concerns • Knowledge of teaching and learning best practices, curriculum development, and assessment strategies, especially in virtual environments • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Strong organizational and time management skills • Demonstrated ability to lead programmatic initiatives, mentor faculty, and foster continuous improvement • Knowledge of scaling innovative teaching practices and supporting holistic student development in online learning environments • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position • Preferred: applied professional experience in the field • Preferred: experience teaching on-ground and online higher education, including faculty development, instructional design, and continuous improvement • Preferred: experience working with adult, non-traditional, post-traditional learners • Preferred: experience contributing to a strategic vision, increased student success, and growth
