📋 Description

• Assess and verify patient demographic, financial, and insurance information for scheduled medical services • Collect co-pays, deductibles, coinsurances, down payments, and other patient liabilities • Provide estimates for services and explain liability variables to patients • Receive and process payments for current and past balances • Contact insurance companies to verify eligibility and obtain accurate billing information • Perform collections on outstanding accounts receivable • Ensure pre-certification authorization and/or referrals are in place before services are rendered • Refer patients to Financial Counselors or the Business Office as appropriate • Reschedule appointments when requested or when financial circumstances require postponement • Enter clear notes about financial clearance status in the system • Apply Financial Clearance policies and procedures consistently • Assess coverage gaps and determine patient financial exposure • Reprioritize work as needed and perform other assigned duties

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum High School Diploma or G.E.D. • 4+ years of experience within a business office setting; hospital revenue cycle, physician office, or collection agency preferred • Prior experience in a healthcare environment required • Business concentration preferred • Working knowledge of personal computers and business office applications preferred • Familiarity with hospital computer systems is a plus • Knowledge of third party collections and reimbursement preferred • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted unless certification, licensure, or registration is required • Ability to work Monday through Friday, 8am–4:30pm • Ability to perform duties involving sitting, standing, walking, talking/hearing, hand use, and lifting up to 10 pounds
