• Identify, implement, and evaluate educational programming for the UNLV research community • Set goals, plan, organize, and lead educational programming related to research involving human subjects • Represent the HRPP at UNLV through proactive and on-demand education • Manage communications from the HRPP to the research community with the Director • Develop and maintain institutional standard operating procedures and forms • Implement process changes resulting from SOP and form development • Manage the Office of Research Integrity web pages • Serve as point of contact for the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protections Programs (AAHRPP) • Manage the reaccreditation process through institutional assessments, gap analyses, policy and SOP updates, site visits, association interactions, and annual reports • Conduct quality assurance and quality improvement activities for the HRPP • Collaborate within the HRPP unit and across units with RICO, compliance officers, and other units • Implement continuous program improvements identified through QA/QI activities • Provide education for researchers and HRPP staff, and work with the Assistant Director on IRB member education
• At least five years of experience in human subjects research administration • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university • IRB Professional certificate (CIP), obtained before the employment start date • Experience with AAHRPP accreditation and/or reaccreditation • Experience delivering educational programming to researchers • Demonstrated knowledge of research administration issues and human-subjects regulatory compliance • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws governing human-subjects research • Knowledge of ethical research practices, common research designs and methodologies, HRPP operations, and best practices • Subject matter expertise in the Common Rule, FDA regulations, and OHRP and FDA guidance • Demonstrated experience as an effective educator • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills • Experience facilitating asynchronous and synchronous education in a complex university environment • Demonstrated experience collaborating across units on cross-unit goals and projects • Ability to balance federal, state, and local regulations with campus and system-wide policies and procedures • Ability to plan, develop, coordinate, and evaluate educational programs • Ability to translate complex concepts for non-experts • Ability to maintain constructive working relationships at all organizational levels • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups • Ability to balance stakeholder needs in HRPP projects • Preferred: experience using Cayuse Human Ethics • Preferred: educational background in pedagogy and educational practice, particularly for adult learners • Preferred: knowledge of accessibility considerations, including document accessibility and video captioning • Preferred: basic knowledge of LMS, particularly Canvas/Instructure • Preferred: experience conducting HRPP QA/QI activities • Preferred: experience using digital tools for educational program delivery • Preferred: ability to analyze situations and data trends • Preferred: ability to design and implement HRPP/IRB process and procedure changes • Preferred: 7–10 years of experience • Preferred: Master’s degree or PhD in a related field
