📋 Description

• Provide timely, clear medical direction and opinions to team partners • Conduct reasoned forensic analysis to support medical opinions • Partner with fellow medical consultants to complete whole-person analyses • Assess medical and other data to determine functional capacity, diagnosis accuracy, treatment plans, duration guidelines, and prognosis • Provide relevant medical education in terms appropriate for the intended audience • Contact insureds’ healthcare providers by telephone to gather medical information and understand claimants’ functional abilities • Make timely referrals for second-opinion reviews when appropriate or required • Manage and complete high volumes of assigned work while maintaining good turnaround times • Support team and group work volumes • Receive feedback and follow through with appropriate actions • Review and evaluate clinical documentation for disability claims • Provide expert medical analysis of claims files or underwriting applications across Unum US product lines • Interact regularly with business partners, healthcare providers, and specialized resources • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Professional Degree (MD, DO, PhD, PsyD) • Active, unrestricted US medical license • Board certification required for physicians in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R), Internal Medicine, Occupational Medicine, or Family Practice • Minimum of five years of clinical experience in medical specialty • Strong team and collaborative skills • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-based, corporate environment • Ability to mentor others and give and receive constructive, behaviorally based feedback with peers and partners • Maintain professional licenses and Board certifications • Work full-time without direct patient care
