Urgent Action Fund for Women's Human Rights is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting women's human rights activists during critical moments. As a rapid response feminist fund, it intervenes quickly to protect and strengthen the work of these activists, enabling them to navigate serious threats and seize opportunities for feminist movements. UAF's innovative approach to philanthropy aims to address the immediate needs of activists on the frontlines of change.

📋 Description

• Oversee revenue tracking, allocation, and compliance for 35 restricted revenue streams, including budgeting, award processing, disbursement, post-award monitoring, and closeout • Coordinate with Partnerships and Programs teams to create budgets and maintain revenue allocation and tracking systems • Manage complex compliance obligations, including Canadian and European government audits and funder-specific reporting • Oversee financial planning, management, forecasting, scenario planning, and reporting • Develop the annual organizational budget and oversee accurate recording of accounts receivable, accounts payable, restricted funds, and related releases • Direct investment strategy and manage banking relationships • Coordinate audit materials and oversee review of draft audits and Form 990s • Lead financial reporting for consortium partners and 20+ funders annually • Provide regular reports to the Finance and Audit Committees and present annual and midyear budgets • Strengthen financial systems, software, SOPs, and revenue and expense tracking processes • Collaborate on payroll and benefits systems and administration • Coordinate with global Sister Funds across multiple time zones on projections, income tracking, reporting, and shared systems • Serve on the Management Team and contribute to organization-wide leadership and strategic decisions • Supervise the Finance and Administration Officer and oversee an external accounting firm • Lead the evolution of the Finance team, workflows, budget process, grant tracking, financial reporting, payroll, benefits, and 4–6 annual audits

🎯 Requirements

• 10 years of progressive experience in revenue management, philanthropy, and/or nonprofit financial administration • 7 years of progressively senior experience managing finance, accounting, grant management, and fund accounting in a nonprofit setting • 5+ years of experience leading a team • Understanding of feminisms, social justice, and human rights issues affecting women, trans, gender non-binary, and intersex people • Experience leading values-centered financial operations across departments and multicultural, global, and remote contexts • Experience partnering with programs and fundraising teams in complex grantmaking environments • Experience assessing financial and operational risk in international grantmaking, including due diligence, fiscal sponsorship, compliance, and fraud prevention • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for translating complex financial data into actionable insights • Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, collaboration, and coordination skills • Exceptional quantitative analysis skills and a track record in cost-saving measures and infrastructure development • High discretion, integrity, and executive judgment • People management and leadership experience • Ability to multitask, set priorities, and solve problems in a fluid environment • Experience leading continuous feedback and performance management during transition and change • Digital fluency, including software selection and installation, vendor management, reporting tools, and data analysis • Experience with QuickBooks Online, Google Suite, Microsoft, and Expensify in a Mac environment preferred • Ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 15% of the time • Comfort working across cultures and domestic and international time zones • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment
