• Own the end-to-end architecture of the Karman Digital Environment (KDE) simulation platform for developing, testing, and validating Karman before production deployment • Architect systems spanning sub-millisecond control paths through system-level orchestration with coherent time management and deterministic behavior • Design and evolve time synchronization, signal routing, data-flow orchestration, deterministic replay, scenario execution, platform APIs, and data contracts • Define and maintain performance targets for latency, jitter, throughput, and fidelity, and lead full-stack optimization • Serve as technical authority for simulation and validation methodology • Partner with algorithm, QA, product, hardware, firmware, and GTM teams • Build and lead an engineering team covering real-time systems, simulation infrastructure, power systems modeling, and GPU calibration • Remain hands-on in architecture and critical technical decisions • Represent KDE on a cross-functional council and arbitrate platform priorities • Travel periodically to the company headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan
• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Physics, or a related field • 10+ years in systems architecture, simulation platforms, real-time or hardware-in-the-loop systems, embedded systems, or high-performance distributed platforms • Experience as a hands-on player-coach leading small, high-performing engineering teams • Proven record designing and delivering simulation platforms or large-scale test systems treated as production hardware by engineering teams • Experience with production-scale data ingestion, telemetry, and playback • Ability to design platform APIs and data contracts used by multiple teams • Deep expertise in scheduling, concurrency, memory access patterns, latency budgets, jitter measurement, and sub-millisecond determinism • Substantive fluency in AC power distribution, control-loop dynamics, and electrical protection systems, or comparable depth in an adjacent domain • Experience leading or contributing to a novel modeling problem in the platform's domain • Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time • GPU-based systems or accelerator experience preferred • Data center power infrastructure or hyperscaler energy-aware computing experience preferred • Familiarity with AI inference serving systems such as vLLM, TensorRT-LLM, or Triton preferred • Must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship requirements are addressed in the application
