📋 Description

• Own the hypervisor and private cloud strategy, including OpenStack/KVM architecture, cluster topology, operational model, and VMware migration. • Define Proxmox deployment architecture, cluster design, storage integration, and operational standards. • Architect bare metal server infrastructure, provisioning automation, lifecycle management, firmware governance, and platform integration. • Lead the VMware-to-OpenStack migration through workload assessment, sequencing, dependency mapping, and zero-impact cutover. • Define and own Kubernetes platform architecture across on-premise and cloud environments. • Establish Docker image lifecycle governance, registry management, vulnerability scanning, and build pipeline integration. • Design CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and network function delivery using GitOps workflows, automated testing, and rollout orchestration. • Own PostgreSQL database platform architecture, high availability, replication, backup, and disaster recovery. • Define block, object, and file storage architecture with backup, replication, and RPO/RTO targets. • Establish database governance standards, migration tooling, performance monitoring, and operational runbooks. • Define hybrid and multi-cloud integration patterns, workload placement, cloud bursting, and interconnect architecture. • Establish infrastructure-as-code standards using Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent. • Own redundancy and geographic diversity planning across infrastructure tiers. • Design active-active and active-passive carrier-grade architectures with load balancing, failover automation, and health monitoring. • Define and test disaster recovery playbooks, validate runbooks, and remediate post-exercise gaps. • Set infrastructure architecture standards, own the architecture, influence technical direction, mentor engineers, and drive cross-functional decisions as a senior independent contributor.

🎯 Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required. • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and directly relevant infrastructure architecture experience. • 10+ years of infrastructure engineering experience in virtualization, private cloud, and data center operations in a network operator or telco environment. • Senior independent contributor experience setting infrastructure architecture standards, influencing technical direction, mentoring engineers, and driving cross-functional architecture decisions without direct people-management responsibility. • Expert-level OpenStack knowledge, including Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Glance, and Keystone, at production scale. • Hands-on Kubernetes experience with production cluster design, CNI/CSI selection, RBAC, and multi-cluster management. • Strong PostgreSQL expertise in high availability, replication, performance tuning, and production operations. • Proven VMware-to-OpenStack or equivalent hypervisor migration program delivery. • Experience with bare metal provisioning and lifecycle management using Ironic, MAAS, or equivalent. • Background in redundancy and geographic diversity planning, failure domain analysis, RTO/RPO definition, and disaster recovery execution. • Infrastructure-as-code proficiency with Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent in a network or telecom production environment. • Ability to work independently, apply sound judgment, collaborate, multitask, meet critical deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities. • Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, analytical, and systems-thinking skills. • Senior technical leadership, mentoring, standards-setting, executive presence, and stakeholder communication skills. • Must be currently authorized to work in the US for any employer; sponsorship is not available. • Must satisfy physical requirements including prolonged sitting and occasional lifting or moving up to 25 pounds. • Pre-employment background check required; drug screening may be required. • At all times, Ziply Fiber must be your primary employer; outside employment or self-employment requires written approval.
