📋 Description

• Perform complex professional accounting work involving recording and reporting financial transactions • Prepare financial statements, insurance department filings, regulatory filings, and analyses • Ensure timely and accurate posting, balancing, and reconciliation of the general ledger for each entity • Prepare work papers, financial statements, and reports for internal accounting and auditing • Research and analyze fluctuations between current financial results and prior-year, prior-month, and budgeted amounts • Work with independent auditors and insurance department auditors to ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements • Prepare quarterly and annual insurance department statements, including conversion from GAAP to statutory accounting • Recommend changes in accounting systems and procedures • Assist business partners with budgeting, expenditure coding, document preparation, and other accounting activities • Review work completed by bookkeepers, bank reconcilers, and accounts payable clerks • Assist in training technical and clerical personnel

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field or equivalent experience • 4+ years of accounting-related experience, including working in a lead and/or training capacity • 4+ years of experience using accounting and auditing principles and practices, including GAAP and statutory accounting • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Proficient in spreadsheet applications • Clean credit history as reported by credit report • Regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment in the performance of job duties • For remote roles, demonstrate a high level of engagement in virtual environments, including maintaining camera presence during meetings • Must comply with Information Security and Privacy Policies when accessing sensitive personal information
