📋 Description

• Own and evolve the technical roadmap for the Financial Risk Engineering team • Act as the connective layer between engineering, product, compliance, fraud countermeasures, and data science • Stay hands-on in the codebase, contribute to architecture decisions, and unblock the team • Build and grow a team operating in an ambiguous fraud and risk environment • Partner with data science and analytics to turn fraud signals into effective systems • Shape the use of AI tools across the team, including incident investigation and code review • Lead the team responsible for how Wealthsimple detects and responds to fraud

🎯 Requirements

• Experience managing engineering teams with sufficient technical depth to contribute directly • Comfortable making decisions involving significant trade-offs and ambiguity • Strong track record partnering with product, compliance, data science, and other non-engineering functions • Ability to communicate technical and risk trade-offs to a range of stakeholders • Comfortable stepping into the codebase when needed • Experience with streaming technologies such as Apache Flink, Apache Spark, or Kafka (nice to have) • Data engineering background working with large datasets and real-time systems (nice to have) • Experience in risk or payments (nice to have) • Experience working closely with analytics or data science teams (nice to have) • Full-stack experience with React and backend languages/frameworks (nice to have) • Legally eligible to work in Canada • Permanent residence in Canada
