📋 Description

• Provide legal counsel and services to World Vision International and the broader World Vision Partnership • Work in consultation with and under the direction of the General Counsel • Coordinate with other members of the Legal Department • Enable the organisation and Partnership to carry out their mission in compliance with applicable laws and at an acceptable level of legal risk • Identify legal problems and issues and provide practical advice to in-house clients • Negotiate and conduct legal research • Deal with outside counsel and support cross-border, multijurisdictional matters • Participate in a cross-cultural, international nonprofit environment

🎯 Requirements

• US Juris Doctorate, or foreign equivalent • At least 5 years’ experience as a practicing attorney • At least some experience in a major global law firm and cross-border, multijurisdictional matters is highly desired • Solid foundation in fundamental legal theories • Ability to identify problems and legal issues and provide practical advice to in-house clients • Good negotiating and research skills • Effective written and oral communication skills • Experience dealing with outside counsel, preferably with global exposure and general knowledge of international affairs • Sensitivity in and exposure to cross-cultural situations • Exposure/experience with countries in the developing world would be highly advantageous • Experience in both law firms and corporate in-house legal departments would be preferred • Experience in a non-US legal system, particularly the Civil Law system, would be preferred • Experience with nonprofit organisations would be highly advantageous • Fluent in written and spoken English • Fluency in a second language, especially Spanish, French, or Portuguese, would be highly advantageous • California Bar admission is preferred; the California requirement may be waived for an exceptional candidate admitted to the bar in another jurisdiction • Applicants must reside in states where WVI is registered to operate • Successful applicant will affirm World Vision’s core documents and observe conduct compatible with Christian principles, where legally permissible
