• Plan, develop, and implement clinical documentation education programs for providers, APPs, and clinical staff • Conduct individual and group education sessions on documentation improvement initiatives • Assist with new provider onboarding sessions and provide Inpatient and Outpatient CDI education and training resources • Provide ongoing education to CDI Specialists on documentation guidelines, regulations, and chart review functions • Mentor CDI Specialists and develop CDI apprenticeship and orientation programs • Analyze data to identify areas requiring stronger provider and staff education • Serve as an expert CDI resource to CDI specialists, coders, revenue cycle, and specialty groups • Promote compliance with CMS, Medicare documentation, third-party payer, LCD, NCD, coding, and billing regulations • Participate in assessing and improving services and regulatory compliance; report results to appropriate administrative levels • Facilitate quarterly quality assurance audits of CDI workflows and collaborate with the CDI Manager on education opportunities • Act as super user for CDI-related EHR systems and EMR data governance; update procedures and train staff on changes • Communicate with CDI staff and leadership, coding leadership, medical staff, medical director, physician advisors, department chairs and administrators, and Population Health • Identify nonspecific documentation and improve documentation templates supporting clinical protocols • Support revenue, quality, and productivity goals through continuous quality improvement, denial management, education, system testing, and implementation
• Graduate of Health Information Technology (HIT) or equivalent program with RHIT or RHIA, OR current Registered Nurse license, OR current Licensed Practical Nurse license • Must obtain CDIP through AHIMA or CCDS through ACDIS within one year of hire • RN: seven years of experience in an inpatient acute care setting • LPN: eight years of clinical experience in an acute care setting • HIT/RHIT/RHIA: seven years of experience in inpatient acute care hospital coding • Knowledge of provider healthcare compliance, revenue cycle operations, and auditing techniques • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology • Proficiency in office software programs • Ability to analyze complex data and reports • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills • Ability to mentor, educate, and train others • Ability to meet quality and productivity standards • Independent decision-making, prioritization, organization, and time management skills • Analytical and problem-solving skills • Ability to handle high-stress and critical situations calmly and professionally • Ability to concentrate and maintain accuracy during constant interruptions • Ability to adapt to workplace and assignment changes • Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management, Nursing, or a related healthcare field preferred • CCDS-O preferred • Previous supervisory or project management experience preferred
