• Receive command and non-command referrals and make introductory contact with referred Sailors • Provide information about the SAIL program • Conduct initial clinical assessments and ongoing risk assessments using the Columbia Suicide Severity Risk Scale (C-SSRS) • Provide ongoing safety planning using the Veterans Affairs Safety Plan • Collaborate with Sailor commands and provide routine updates regarding risk, safety, and recovery progress in accordance with DoDI 6490.08 • Provide clinical case management according to SAIL protocols and procedures • Connect enrolled Sailors with behavioral health providers and supportive resources • Document referral information for Sailors who decline or cannot be contacted in the FFSMIS SAIL Record System • Alert commands when SAIL services conclude and advise on procedures if suicide-related risk returns • Report suspected child abuse and domestic abuse/violence to appropriate civilian authorities and Family Advocacy Representatives • Provide warm handoffs for restricted domestic abuse and sexual assault reports • Coordinate initial evaluations by qualified Military Treatment Facility/Emergency Department staff after suicide-related behavior or ideation • Collaborate with behavioral health and other service providers when authorized by a release of information • Participate in quarterly site/regional quality-assurance procedures • Document and maintain current records for all SAIL contacts, assessments, and case-management services • Intervene in crisis situations using professional judgment, ethical practice, and common sense • Maintain case documentation in accordance with applicable policies, laws, and instructions
• Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy from the specified accredited programs, or doctoral degree in clinical/counseling psychology plus a one-year APA-accredited clinical internship • Current, valid, unrestricted clinical license or certification authorizing independent clinical practice: LCSW, LMFT, LCP, LPC, LCPC, or LMHC • Maintain current clinical credentials and privileges throughout the assignment • Minimum of two years of full-time, post-master’s supervised clinical experience • Meet or exceed Tier II clinical practitioner requirements • Demonstrate current clinical competence through periodic direct-service clinical experience during the two years preceding hire • 2+ years’ experience providing case management to clinical clients • 1+ year experience providing clinical services on a telehealth platform • Minimum of 6 months’ experience managing crises with suicidal clients and implementing safety plans • Minimum of 6 months’ experience assessing suicidality risk • Knowledge of standard documentation requirements for clinical services • Ability to work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment • Strong organizational and time-management skills • Ability to work effectively with diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds • Proficiency in oral and written communication • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and office software • Dedicated professional workspace that is secure, private, suitable for telehealth clinical services, and free of distractions or personal commitments during the workday • Physically located within a reasonable commuting distance of a military installation • Ability to work core business hours of the assigned area and flex hours during surge or crisis • U.S. Citizenship • Valid driver’s license, transportation, and auto insurance • Access to U.S. Government facilities and systems • Ability to meet professional and ethical standards of the applicable discipline or licensing board • Preferred: local residence in the assigned area, military-community short-term counseling experience, knowledge of military and community referral resources, and ability to communicate directly with Command Leadership
