📋 Description

• Set technical strategy for the team on a year-long time scale and connect it to critical, business-impacting projects • Collaborate with product management, design and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle • Define and advocate for technical solutions and operational processes • Own team operations and availability, including monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, alerting and on-call efforts • Set code review and design standards and advocate for them through writing and tech talks • Develop team talent through feedback, guidance and leading by example • Lead complex, business-critical Trust and Safety Foundations initiatives • Build and operate foundational systems and data capabilities supporting consumer risk understanding and credit reporting obligations

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin • Extensive track record of developing highly available distributed systems • Experience with AWS, MySQL, Spark and Kubernetes • Experience delivering major features, system components or deprecating existing functionality through technical and execution plans • Ability to write high quality code that is easily understood and used by others • Ability to work from low-level language idioms to large-system architecture • Experience gathering and iterating on feedback from engineering and cross-functional peers • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field • Must reside in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan
