📋 Description

• Report to the Worker’s Compensation Manager • Oversee complex, long-term workers’ compensation claims • Assess barriers to successful return to work and engage with stakeholders • Implement strategies and facilitate or develop alternative return-to-work plans • Meet with clients to review internal workplace injury issues • Manage workplace injury claims, minimizing time-loss and claim costs through early intervention and proactive coordination of services • Maintain regular and open communication with clients, injured workers, and provincial Workers’ Compensation Boards • Liaise with provincial Workers’ Compensation Boards • Review claim files • Interpret provincial workers’ compensation legislation, policies and procedures • File reports of injury, identify appeal issues, and draft letters of objection • Coordinate case management activities, including developing, implementing and monitoring return-to-work and rehabilitation strategies • Facilitate third-party interventions, including functional capacity evaluations and independent medical evaluations

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years work experience in a workers’ compensation claims management capacity • Awareness of Provincial Worker Compensation Boards and knowledge of workers’ compensation statutes, policies and procedures • Experience leading and training team members to meet deadlines and provide performance feedback • Subject matter expertise and supervisory experience • Ability to work within a demanding environment • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook • Education in a related field such as human resources, health and safety or insurance certificate-designation; significant consideration given to applicants with claims management experience in the absence of these qualifications • Paralegal license is preferred • Must have work authorization in Canada that does not require current or future visa sponsorship • Successful completion of a background check contingent on an offer
