📋 Description

• Provide solutions-oriented strategic legal counseling to enable business units to achieve business objectives in compliance with applicable law and regulations • Support the Product team in the creation and development of insurance products and rate filings • Support ACG’s ongoing adoption of innovative technology and digital initiatives • Conduct complex research on laws, statutes, regulations, rules, and other legal authority; summarize findings and collaborate on business impact and action plans • Support Product and Distribution with insurance-related questions, including policy interpretation, distribution guidelines, and opinions • Review company documents, policies, practices, and procedures and provide legal advice • Review regulatory requests and surveys and provide strategic guidance on market conduct compliance • Track regulatory guidance, updates, and market trends and counsel the business on key issues • Liaise with regulators and support the business with regulatory inquiries • Participate in industry associations and working groups, including the IBC and CADRI • Support intellectual property, trademarks, and brand protection matters • Support marketing and advertising activities, including reviews of product/program marketing and advertising, contests, and promotions

🎯 Requirements

• Law degree from a Canadian law school or equivalent • Member of the Law Society of Ontario, Barreau du Quebec or any other province in which Allstate operates • 5+ years of Insurance and/or Corporate Law experience • Experience in a highly regulated environment • Strong knowledge of P&C insurance • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as advocacy • Demonstrated strategic and data driven mindset • Ability to lead and build relationships across multiple areas of the business • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and navigate competing priorities and agendas successfully • Ability to adapt and integrate own experience with Enterprise-wide strategy • Continuous improvement mindset • French language proficiency is an asset • Strong English communication skills are required for roles open to candidates across Canada
