Circular Materials is a national not-for-profit producer responsibility organization in Canada that builds and manages recycling systems under extended producer responsibility (EPR). It partners with producers, regulators and service providers to design and implement recycling programs, run supply chain procurement and contracts, provide regulatory reporting and analytics, support producer onboarding and fee-setting, operate IT platforms and financial services, and deliver promotion and education to advance the circular economy and increase material recovery across provinces.

📋 Description

• Lead the Common Collection System’s financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning • Develop and maintain financial models for revenue, cost structures, and reserves • Develop and maintain KPIs and financial metrics for internal reporting • Manage journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analyses • Review accounting procedures and ensure compliance with policies and best practices • Monitor regulatory changes affecting financial reporting and compliance • Provide financial analysis and variance reporting to senior management • Oversee collection, allocation, reconciliation, and settlement processes • Lead annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and financial projections • Lead scenario planning and sensitivity analysis • Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and analysis for business decisions and strategic initiatives • Implement and oversee financial reporting systems integrated with ERP and accounting software • Automate reporting processes and improve financial reporting capabilities • Evaluate and improve financial processes and reporting tools • Partner with senior leadership, operational teams, and department heads • Communicate financial data, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders • Liaise with auditors and regulatory bodies for audits, reviews, and regulatory requirements • Foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing within the financial reporting team • Manage assigned team members and support execution of team responsibilities • Perform additional ad-hoc tasks as required

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field • 10+ years of progressive experience, including 3 years in senior leadership roles • Strong experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, and/or variance analysis • Advanced proficiency in financial software such as SAP and Datarails • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel • Strong preference for experience in Power BI dashboard development and AWS • Strong understanding of artificial intelligence concepts preferred • Advanced skills in financial modeling and/or variance analysis • Experience amalgamating large data sets to provide actionable insights • Experience with financial consolidation, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and/or financial analysis • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting practices • Excellent communication skills for explaining complex financial insights to non-financial stakeholders and senior management • Proven track record of establishing new processes, automating manual workflows, and/or developing dashboards • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment • High level of integrity, personal responsibility, and accountability • CPA or other relevant certification preferred • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
