📋 Description

• Lead the Node sub-team's technical direction, architecture decisions, and code quality standards • Architect the backend platform, including service and API structure, asynchronous and real-time processing, rate limiting, resiliency, and relational/document data modeling • Document architecture decisions for stakeholders • Design and implement complex backend features using Node.js and TypeScript • Design and implement Next.js API routes and Node.js backend services • Define API designs and contracts, authentication/authorization, caching, messaging, and database access • Enable frontend and mobile teams to build on stable, well-documented interfaces • Lead code reviews and mentor junior engineers • Establish and enforce Node coding standards • Own backend performance optimization, testing strategy, and CI/CD pipeline governance • Ensure secure, HIPAA-compliant, high-availability services

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience • 7+ years of professional software development experience with primary backend expertise • Deep, demonstrable proficiency with Node.js, TypeScript, and Next.js (API routes) building production services and APIs • Strong relational and document database design experience • Experience deploying and operating services on a cloud platform; Azure preferred • Preferred: 10+ years of professional experience in backend or full-stack development • Preferred: Experience in healthcare technology, health insurance, or another regulated industry • Preferred: Experience with healthcare data standards (HL7 FHIR, X12, NCPDP) applied to data integration and API design • Preferred: Experience with real-time systems (WebSockets), event-driven architecture, GraphQL/tRPC, and monorepo tooling • Must reside in the Eastern or Central time zones • Must attend an in-person interview at the Dallas headquarters as a finalist • Must have a dedicated work area separate from other living areas and providing information privacy • Must be able to keep company sensitive documents secure • Must live where existing high-speed internet service is available
