📋 Description

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable backend services processing financial transactions for Jeeves customers across 20+ countries • Write clean, testable, production-quality code in Go, Python, or Node.js/TypeScript • Participate in design and code reviews • Build and consume RESTful and GraphQL APIs • Design inter-service communication using gRPC, message queues, and event-driven architectures • Design and optimize PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis schemas • Own backend features from scoping and technical design through deployment, monitoring, and iteration • Implement authentication, authorization, input validation, and data protection • Integrate LLM API calls such as OpenAI and Anthropic into backend services • Build safe pipelines for AI-generated outputs, including validation, fallbacks, and graceful degradation • Collaborate with AI and data science teams to integrate model outputs into backend APIs • Use GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, and similar AI coding tools in daily development • Instrument services with structured logging, distributed tracing, and metrics • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to production incidents • Contribute to post-incident reviews, CI/CD improvements, testing infrastructure, and deployment practices • Collaborate with engineering, product, compliance, and data teams across regions and time zones • Contribute documentation, async design reviews, and pull request feedback • Bring regional perspective on LATAM customer and product needs

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience building and operating production systems • Fluent in English for daily written and spoken work with global teams • Strong proficiency in at least one backend language: Go, Python, or Node.js/TypeScript • Experience designing and building RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven backend systems • Solid understanding of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, and data modeling • Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure; Docker; Kubernetes; and CI/CD pipelines • Demonstrated ability to integrate third-party APIs reliably in production, including error handling, retry logic, and observability • Experience working on globally distributed teams across time zones and regions • Comfortable integrating LLM API outputs into backend services and using AI coding assistants fluently • Preferred: experience in fintech, financial services, payments, or regulated industries • Preferred: familiarity with ledger systems, payment rails, KYC/AML, or PCI-DSS • Preferred: fluency in Spanish or Portuguese • Preferred: startup or high-growth scale-up experience • Preferred: multi-currency systems or cross-border payment processing experience • Preferred: Kafka, RabbitMQ, and event-driven architecture familiarity • Preferred: global work experience across multiple countries and regulatory environments
