• Design and create complex visual simulations: fire, smoke, fluids, destruction, magical or abstract effects • Produce simulations in accordance with artistic and technical guidelines • Use Houdini (Pyro, Flip, RBD, Vellum, SOPs) to generate optimized and adaptable effects • Independently manage FX tasks, from the initial setup through final rendering • Perform quality control on files, caches, and workfiles before submission • Propose artistic solutions aligned with the project’s vision • Participate in dailies and incorporate feedback • Adapt effects to the narrative requirements, visual style, and pacing of the scene • Optimize caches and ensure setup stability • Identify and resolve technical issues • Collaborate with the Pipeline team to integrate or test new tools • Verify effect compatibility with layout, lighting, and compositing • Provide estimates, flag schedule risks, and collaborate with Production on priorities • Participate in turnovers, briefings, and progress reviews • Share knowledge and contribute to FX documentation and workflow improvements
• Strong expertise in high-end photorealistic visual effects • Previous FX experience in a VFX studio (10+ years recommended) • Excellent proficiency in Houdini (Pyro, Flip, RBD, Vellum, SOPs) • Basic knowledge of compositing (Nuke) and rendering (Arnold and Karma) • Knowledge of USD and Solaris • Strong understanding of motion, physics, and visual pacing • Organized, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and collaborative • Asset: Knowledge of Flow Production Tracking • Asset: Experience developing Houdini tools • Asset: Python or VEX scripting experience
