📋 Description

• Develop, implement, and maintain software solutions supporting business operations and company goals • Perform analysis, design, coding, debugging, testing, and application support • Develop new applications and systems, enhance or upgrade existing systems, and provide production support • Work independently on moderately complex projects with general direction • Assist and provide direction to less experienced peers • Capture stakeholder requests and system specifications and translate them into design specifications, source code, test scripts, and test results • Coordinate with software architects and Software Engineer IVs to align engineering work with Enterprise Architecture principles and software development best practices • Complete application design, coding, code review, and testing as part of Agile teams • Communicate project status to the Agile team and Agile Program Manager • Advise stakeholders on effective and efficient approaches to meet project and program objectives • Track and communicate engineering risks, issues, and mitigation methods • Coordinate interdependencies and resolve issues with other project and program areas • Support business units with complex user questions and issues according to production support processes and SLAs • Maintain knowledge of new technology, software engineering standards, practices, and tools • Provide input into product roadmaps and high-level estimates • Collaborate with IT management on documentation and engineering artifact standards, guidelines, processes, and templates • Work the night shift

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field • At least 3–5 years of software development experience, specifically Java development • Advanced knowledge of specialized software engineering best practices, methods, and techniques • Extensive experience developing software applications on the assigned technology platform • Extensive knowledge of source code change management and related tools • Knowledge and experience using Agile software development principles, processes, and tools • Experience with Java, SQL, JavaScript, Angular, HTML, and CSS • Experience with scalable, high-availability back-end database technologies, primarily SQL Server • Experience building microservices with Spring Boot and building and calling APIs • Experience with front-end technologies including HTML5, CSS, Bootstrap, jQuery, accessibility, and responsive layouts • UI/UX development experience • Experience with insurance/reinsurance systems and data • Strong understanding of server-side software, scalability, performance, and reliability • Strong understanding of the OSI model, networking, operating-system layers, and services • Understanding of continuous-delivery tools such as Chef, Puppet, and Salt • Understanding of continuous-integration and deployment tools such as Octopus Deploy and Jenkins • Proficiency in Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS, Windows, IIS, Linux, Tomcat, JBoss, Visio, T-SQL, SSIS, and shell scripting • Knowledge of reporting tools such as Power BI and SSRS • Excellent English speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension skills • Ability to explain and simplify technology for non-technical people • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills • Strong customer service skills for end-user and business-owner systems support • Knowledge of production support processes, including incident and problem management techniques • Willingness to work with unfamiliar code and new technology while maintaining attention to detail
