📋 Description

• Design, implementation and operation of backend services and APIs with a focus on user and business value • Participation in problem and solution discovery and clarification of what should be built and why • Independent prioritization together with the team and stakeholders based on product and business impact • Active use and critical evaluation of AI tools across the engineering process • Further development and operation of the event-driven Kafka architecture • Responsibility for architecture and infrastructure decisions • End-to-end responsibility for production services, including stability, observability and continuous improvement • Occasional work across the full stack, including minor frontend adjustments • Proactive identification of product, process and technical improvements with measurable customer benefit • Use of AI services within the products • Close collaboration with operations, sales, carriers and other stakeholders to translate business goals into scalable backend solutions • Shaping a pragmatic, learning-oriented engineering approach

🎯 Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or equivalent qualification • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in developing and operating backend systems • Strong product thinking and ownership for outcomes • Ability to independently identify problems, prioritize them and drive solutions • Excellent knowledge of modern JVM technologies, ideally Kotlin with Ktor or Spring Boot • Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems such as Kafka • Strong knowledge of relational databases, e.g., PostgreSQL • Ability to make pragmatic trade-offs between technical excellence, delivery speed and business requirements • Basic understanding of frontend code, e.g., Angular • Experience collaborating with non-technical stakeholders and clear, business-focused communication • Practical experience with AI-assisted software development • Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated suggestions and take technical responsibility • Interest in continuously integrating new AI tools into the engineering workflow • Experience integrating AI services into software products is a plus • High degree of ownership, curiosity and ability to give and receive constructive feedback • Very good German language skills (B2) and English language skills (C1)
