📋 Description

• Lead and evolve platform, infrastructure and engineering capabilities supporting highly scalable and reliable systems across Carousell Group • Drive agentic engineering and AI adoption across engineering teams, applying AI to engineering workflows and software development • Provide technical direction across Platform Engineering, Infrastructure / SRE and Data Engineering • Make architecture decisions across Platform Engineering, Infrastructure / SRE and Data Engineering • Lead the design and operation of highly scalable distributed systems • Improve reliability, performance, observability and operational excellence • Partner with engineering leaders to improve developer productivity, engineering velocity and system reliability • Build and develop the engineering leadership layer • Help Principal and Senior Engineers grow their technical leadership • Lead distributed engineering teams through managers • Drive engineering excellence across service runtime, observability, scaling, service communication, data consistency, developer tooling, networking, security and infrastructure • Own and influence infrastructure and platform investments, including engineering efficiency and cloud cost optimisation • Work with Product, Data, Engineering and executive stakeholders to shape technical strategy and influence business outcomes • Operate across multiple markets, teams and cultures within Carousell Group

🎯 Requirements

• Significant experience leading large-scale engineering organisations in Platform Engineering, Infrastructure / SRE and/or Data Engineering • Deep technical expertise in at least two of the three areas while having enough breadth across all three to effectively lead teams with deeper specialists • Strong hands-on experience driving AI-native or agentic engineering adoption within an engineering organisation • Strong distributed systems architecture and design expertise • A track record of successfully building, scaling and operating high-scale platforms or systems • Experience leading complex technical initiatives from architecture through execution and operations • Strong technical judgement with the ability to engage credibly with Principal and Senior Engineers • Experience mentoring and developing Principal / Senior Engineers and building strong technical leadership pipelines • Experience owning cloud infrastructure or platform costs at significant scale • Experience leading distributed engineering organisations of 15–30+ engineers through an EM layer • Experience working in a multi-brand, multi-market or multi-business-unit organisation • Experience working across different geographies and cultures • Strong executive communication and stakeholder influence
