📋 Description

• Build reliable, scalable payment services that make disputes simpler for customers and partners • Own and deliver backend features end to end, from API design and implementation to deployment, monitoring and operational support • Lead the architecture and evolution of cloud-based microservices • Ensure scalability, performance, security and alignment with mobile and business needs • Define and uphold high code quality standards and apply best practices for maintainable, testable services • Support frontend engineers with backend expertise, API usage guidance, data contracts and performance considerations • Drive backend platform decisions based on current product requirements and future growth • Balance platform consistency with web-specific needs through pragmatic technical trade-offs • Improve backend reliability, developer experience and delivery speed for mobile and platform teams • Collaborate with product management, design, frontend, QA and other backend teams • Choose and lead roadmap topics and contribute to product decisions • Work across the product lifecycle from ideation and discovery through deployment and operational support • Report to the Engineering Manager and work closely with the Product Manager and engineering team

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of professional experience in software development, including at least 5 years of backend development • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field is preferred • Fluent in English (CEFR C1 or C2) • French, German, Dutch or other European languages are a plus • Ability to thrive in a remote-first, multicultural environment • Proven experience building scalable system architectures • Experience using modern design patterns and REST API design • Commitment to clear technical documentation • Ability to recognise and implement effective automated tests at appropriate levels • Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of features • Ability to collaborate across teams with minimal guidance • Experience with frontend technologies is a plus • Willingness to contribute to frontend tasks is a plus • Experience designing and implementing Backend-for-Frontend services is a plus • Familiarity with API contracts, performance and client-specific requirements is a plus
