• Develop, review and update the project EHS plan and site EHS procedures from mobilization through project close-out. • Communicate and coordinate the implementation of GE Vernova (GEV) EHS programs and assist the GEV site manager, supervisors and contractors with their implementation. • Ensure effective implementation of GE Vernova Life-Saving Rules (LSR) and the work processes for high-risk operations (HRO) and routine operations, including the establishment of permit-to-work procedures, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), pre-task briefings, last-minute risk assessments, etc. • Actively participate in the development, review and implementation of hazard identifications, risk assessments, risk registers, rescue plans, work methods, lift plans, etc. • Ensure that risk assessments, work methods and safe task analyses are in place and communicated to everyone involved or potentially affected by the task before it begins. • Focus on and actively contribute to the safe execution of high-risk operations by concentrating on critical risks and preventing potential severe events (PSE). • Actively contribute to the EHS management process for GEV contractors on site, from prequalification through mobilization and onboarding, during execution of works, and through demobilization and evaluation of their EHS performance.
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a technical field (mechanical, electrical, etc.) with additional EHS training, or a university degree in EHS. • More than 5 years of experience in an EHS role, with exposure to multiple EHS disciplines within construction project environments. • Knowledge of the energy sector required (hydropower experience preferred). • CoSS certification (Health and Safety Coordinator) or Construction Site Safety Officer certification issued by the CNESST is required. • Strong command of protocols and mechanisms for managing and preventing risks associated with high-risk operations (mechanical lifting, confined space work, work at height, electrical hazards, energy isolation/lockout-tagout, chemical hazards, asbestos, lead, heavy machinery, ergonomics, etc.). • Solid knowledge of Quebec EHS regulations (LSST, RSST, CSTC, LMRSST, Regulation on prevention mechanisms specific to construction sites, etc.) and those of other Canadian provinces and territories. • Available and able to work at construction sites and hydroelectric plants in remote areas (primarily in Quebec, but also across other Canadian provinces and territories), on long shifts, in rotation (as required by the site) and with varied hours (day and night shifts). • Physically able to work at height and in confined spaces, climb ladders, etc. • Fluent in French; English is a major asset. • Permanent resident of Canada or Canadian citizen.
