📋 Description

• Design and maintain target-state architecture for Linux server and desktop infrastructure across on-premises, virtualized, and cloud environments • Own the architecture and roadmap for the broader open-source infrastructure stack • Define standards for OS builds, patching, hardening, and lifecycle management • Architect and oversee infrastructure automation for consistent, repeatable deployments • Lead evaluation and integration of virtualization and containerization platforms • Design high availability, disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity solutions • Own capacity planning and performance engineering • Define and enforce security architecture with Cyber Security teams • Own open-source license compliance and governance • Act as technical escalation point for complex incidents and problem management • Produce architecture documentation, design decisions, and roadmaps; present them to stakeholders • Evaluate technologies and vendors and provide build-vs-buy and open-source-vs-commercial recommendations • Mentor system administrators and engineers • Collaborate with the outsourcing provider, application owners, architects, network/security teams, and cloud teams

🎯 Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience • 7+ years of experience administering and/or architecting Linux environments, including several years in an architecture or technical lead role • Deep expertise in at least one major enterprise Linux distribution, such as RHEL or SUSE, and working knowledge of others • Broad hands-on familiarity with open-source infrastructure beyond the OS, including web/app servers, MySQL, PostgreSQL, message queues, and identity providers • Strong hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, and Terraform • Understanding of open-source OS in Azure cloud and containerization/orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes • Experience designing high availability, disaster recovery, and backup/restore strategies • Strong networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, and firewalls • Practical knowledge of Linux security hardening, patch management, and compliance frameworks such as CIS and ISO 27001 • Understanding of open-source licensing models including GPL, Apache, and MIT • Scripting proficiency in Bash and Python • Experience with monitoring and observability stacks such as Prometheus/Grafana, Nagios, Zabbix, and ELK/Splunk • Experience with Azure and hybrid-cloud Linux workloads • Active contribution to or involvement with open-source projects or communities • Exposure to enterprise storage architectures such as SAN/NAS • Familiarity with ITIL processes and enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF • Strong architectural and analytical thinking • Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders • Ability to work independently in a senior, low-supervision role • Collaborative approach across infrastructure, security, and application teams • Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions • Fluent English at business level
