📋 Description

• Leading and managing the delivery of primary healthcare services to immigration detainees within detention centres. • Provide clinical supervision and serve as the primary escalation point for health staff working within the immigration detention centre. • Provide preventative health checks, immunisations, and health promotion. • Manage acute presentations and chronic diseases while attending to day-to-day medical concerns. • Support patients with acute and chronic mental health issues alongside the specialised mental health team. • Adapt to changing needs of the immigration field, ensuring flexibility in approach to care.

🎯 Requirements

• Hold a medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and have full registration with the Medical Board of Australia, without restrictions. • Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP), the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM), or equivalent substantial clinical practice experience is essential. • Experience in telehealth is highly desirable, along with demonstrated capability in managing mental health and alcohol or other drug concerns. • Authorisation as an opioid substitution treatment prescriber preferred, or a willingness to obtain authorisation in your jurisdiction. • Knowledge and experience in managing public health issues, particularly communicable diseases, and a strong understanding of the needs of vulnerable populations. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. • Demonstrate a clear understanding of ethical considerations and confidentiality in healthcare delivery and be able to navigate and adapt to a complex and challenging healthcare environment.
