Holafly is a travel connectivity provider that sells eSIMs and prepaid international SIM cards to travelers, enabling mobile data access across multiple countries without relying on traditional roaming plans. It operates primarily through an online storefront and targets consumers such as tourists and digital nomads who need short-term, flexible mobile data while abroad.

📋 Description

• Lead the strategic evolution, capacity engineering, and resilient design of Holafly’s core telecom network architecture • Own Holafly’s core topology and end-to-end network performance • Map and document the current end-to-end core network layout, including packet core components, roaming interfaces, and routing paths • Serve as the primary technical contact and architectural authority with the core network provider • Align on technical roadmaps, platform upgrades, feature releases, and SLA/SLO enforcement • Monitor traffic distribution, data throughput, signaling load, and latency metrics to identify network pinch points and hardware or bandwidth limits • Architect and deploy fixes for capacity bottlenecks and optimize packet processing, session setup times, and IP routing pathways • Develop data-driven capacity forecasts based on subscriber growth, peak travel seasons, and regional demand surges • Implement geo-redundancy, active-active failover, and disaster recovery strategies • Optimize QoS profiles, APN configurations, and BGP/MPLS routing protocols • Conduct root cause analysis for high-severity outages or degradation events and implement preventive architectural changes • Collaborate with wholesale IPX carriers, clearinghouses, core vendors, and MNO partners to eliminate single points of failure • Track 5G, eSIM, and cloud-native core standards to modernize Holafly’s architecture

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in mobile network architecture, core network engineering (EPC/5GC), or network strategy within an MNO, MVNO, or MVNE environment • Deep hands-on knowledge of 3GPP LTE/5G core architectures, including MME, HSS, PGW, PCRF, AMF, UPF, and SMF • Knowledge of roaming protocols including S6a, S8, GTP-C/U, Diameter, and SIP • Knowledge of IPX interconnects • Experience working closely with core platform vendors and cloud-native or virtualized MVNE platforms • Understanding of BGP, OSPF, MPLS, IPsec, DNS, and CGNAT • Experience with Wireshark and tcpdump • Proven record of identifying network bottlenecks, executing capacity expansions, and designing resilient, highly available distributed systems • Experience with network monitoring and observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK • Experience with traffic generation and testing suites • Ability to analyze complex network telemetry, trace signaling flows, and identify performance issues • Ability to translate business growth goals into technical requirements and explain architectural tradeoffs to senior leadership • Ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and external vendor teams • Professional fluency in Spanish is a nice-to-have • Nice-to-have exposure to AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes, NFV/VNF orchestration, GSMA RSP, SM-DP+, and SM-DS

🏖️ Benefits

• 100% Remote & Flexible Culture: Work from anywhere with a high level of trust and ownership in Europe • Directly shape the connectivity experience for millions of international travelers worldwide • Opportunity to lead 5G transformation and cloud-native telecom architecture at a fast-scaling tech enterprise • Benchmark-aligned salary • Performance bonuses • Health coverage • Professional learning stipends
