📋 Description

• HomeBuddy: platform connecting homeowners with contractors across the US, focused on lead quality and long-term partnerships. • Fast-growing home improvement platform evolving based on data insights and modern tools. • Full-time Senior Backend Engineer role with home working flexibility. • Design and implement scalable, maintainable, and well-tested systems using PHP (Laravel) and other modern frameworks and languages. • Use C4 modelling and architectural thinking to design new features and systems. • Participate in the full development lifecycle: concept, estimation, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and optimisation. • Work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver high-value features on time. • Champion systems thinking, helping ensure technical choices align with business goals. • Maintain a strong focus on code quality, performance, and security.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of professional development experience, with experience in PHP/Laravel. • Experience in at least one other modern language or framework (e.g., Go, Node.js, Python, Kotlin, etc). • Solid understanding of OOP, SOLID principles, and design patterns. • Experience creating or working with C4 diagrams and system architecture documentation. • Proven ability to estimate work accurately and deliver within agreed timelines. • Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases, including performance tuning. • Proficiency with Git-based workflows and Linux environments. • Experience with o11y tools. • Advanced English. • Experience with Docker and containerised deployments in a Terraform environment. • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS), certification is nice to have. • Background in event-driven systems or microservices. • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and other Atlassian tools.
