📋 Description

• Lead and contribute to the development and/or review of radiation protection aspects of nuclear safety cases and nuclear safety management systems. • Apply radiation protection methodologies to assist with the design and operation of complex defence and civil nuclear and radiological infrastructure. • Work within and engage with defence and civil nuclear licensing and regulatory frameworks. • Contribute radiation protection technical capability for projects. • Train and mentor the next generation of Australian radiation practitioners. • Deliver major Defence, Transport and Infrastructure projects as part of KBR’s integrated nuclear capability.

🎯 Requirements

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the application of relevant state, commonwealth and international standards and regulations in the field of radiation protection. • Practical experience working in one or more nuclear or radiological-related facilities. • Demonstrated experience in the implementation of radiation protection measures in shielding, contamination control, monitoring, dosimetry and radiological zoning. • Experience carrying out dose assessments, radiation safety assessments, risk assessments, and optimisation and ALARA assessments. • Strong written communication skills, including experience with drafting and reviewing technical reports. • Hold (or be eligible to hold) Australian, US or UK defence security clearance. • Degree or equivalent experience in Science or Engineering with a sound knowledge of the sciences underpinning radiation safety. • Radiation protection specific qualifications, such as Certified Radiation Safety Advisor through ARPAB, or relevant accredited university courses. • Excellent client management/stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to adapt communication styles to suit levels of technical understanding. • Experience advising clients. • Familiarity with safety-informed design processes and deterministic safety analysis. • Experience with shielding, dose and environmental modelling. • Demonstrated experience in successfully driving customer service and positive safety culture.
