📋 Description

• Run the full native Portuguese payroll cycle in-house accurately, compliantly, and on time • Process and verify payroll master data, including hires, terminations, salary changes, variable pay, benefits, absences, and garnishments • Run pre- and post-payroll validations and flag issues before they reach employees, customers, or Finance • Handle monthly IRS withholding declarations, DMR filings to Segurança Social, annual Modelo 10 filings, and reimbursement claims • Retrieve and maintain employee IRS withholding codes and support government access setup and maintenance • Follow payroll system procedures and test legislative updates as directed • Apply Portuguese tax, social security, labor law, and collective agreement knowledge • Check payroll journals and GL mappings against outputs and flag data integrity issues • Handle assigned client payroll tickets and escalate issues beyond scope • Prepare statutory and ad-hoc reports, including EU Pay Transparency Directive, Comissão de Trabalhadores pay assessments, and RGPD/GDPR compliance documentation • Provide data and documentation for internal and external audits • Follow and improve SOPs, share knowledge, and maintain playbooks and knowledge-base documentation

🎯 Requirements

• 1–3 years running native, in-house payroll processes for Portugal • Comfortable independently handling a defined volume of payslips per month • Hands-on experience with Portuguese payroll software: Cegid (Primavera or PHC) and/or Sendys • Completed a recognized accounting/payroll qualification and/or dedicated payroll processing certification • Working knowledge of Portuguese wage tax, social insurance, and labor law • Portuguese at C1/C2 and fluent English • Ability to handle assigned client queries and escalate issues beyond scope • Careful, detail-oriented approach with thorough self-checking • Ability to navigate ambiguity and escalate out-of-scope issues • Willingness to share knowledge and support less experienced colleagues • Comfortable working largely asynchronously in a fast-paced, remote-first environment
