📋 Description

• Take full ownership of backend features from scoping through to production, keeping the team informed on progress, risks, and blockers. • Design and deliver backend services handling real payment volume, focusing on reliability, performance, and correctness at scale. • Contribute to architecture discussions, bring proposals to the engineering council, and advocate for clear service contracts and maintainable system design. • Monitor production impact, identify issues early, and drive incidents to resolution. • Write high-quality, production-ready code with well-considered error paths. • Contribute to Primer’s engineering standards and help maintain a consistent quality bar. • Collaborate with engineers on scoping sessions, code reviews, and technical decisions. • Report to the Engineering Manager for Account Experience.

🎯 Requirements

• Solid backend engineering experience and ability to deliver production-ready software with minimal direction • Strong understanding of distributed systems fundamentals • Experience working with REST APIs and reliable, observable service patterns • Experience owning work end to end, including monitoring, rollout, and post-deployment considerations • Ability to contribute to architecture discussions and challenge unsound design decisions • Experience in payments, fintech, or infrastructure is a plus • Ability to operate effectively in a remote-first environment • Must be based in Portugal, Hungary, Poland, South Africa, or Romania • Working rights in the country of residence are addressed in the application requirements
