📋 Description

• Build the finance function from the ground up in a greenfield environment • Establish finance processes, workflows, SOPs, a document management system, and server access configuration • Own ongoing financial accounting, month-end closing, and year-end closing • Prepare annual financial statements in coordination with the external tax advisor, Udo, and ensure they are filed • Establish controlling and budgeting processes • Conduct rolling forecasts, variance analysis, and monthly management reporting • Lead the internal accounting team, including at least one tax specialist and additional staff • Define structures, responsibilities, and quality standards • Independently manage the interface with the tax advisor • Reliably manage deadlines, documentation, and the compliance calendar • Define, enforce, and document budgeting and approval processes • Optional: Prepare the company for investment readiness, including the data room and financial documentation for investors or transactions • Optional: Provide hands-on support for M&A execution • Report directly to Maximilian Mayer (Director of Operations) and work closely with the executive team

🎯 Requirements

• Operational finance responsibility in Germany • Independently prepared annual financial statements and brought them through to filing • Built finance functions out of chaos by stabilizing disorganized structures, historical booking errors, missing receipts, and undocumented processes • Built controlling and budgeting processes from the ground up • Hands-on experience with rolling forecasts and variance analysis • Experience in a growing start-up or scale-up with 50–100 employees • Daily operational experience with DATEV, BMD, or a comparable system, including posting, closing, and reporting • Strong command of the German tax and statutory deadline regime • Business-level German and English • Residence and work authorization in Germany or Austria • Hands-on mentality and ownership mindset • Willingness to dive into the details; this is not a nine-to-five role • Nice to have: Experience with separate entities, holding structures, or international setups • Nice to have: Experience with investment readiness and fundraising • Nice to have: Hands-on M&A experience on the execution side • Nice to have: Background in VC, PE, family office, or start-up accelerator environments • Nice to have: BMD experience
