📋 Description

• Build cost models using internal and external databases to establish Design-to-Cost targets for components, modules, and assemblies in HARMAN Automotive products • Define HARMAN best-practice cost references for Automotive products to component level • Analyze supplier quote cost breakdowns and cost-influencing factors • Lead the technical definition and implementation of electronic system cost-modeling solutions • Identify analytics that enable trend data to be established • Develop technical relationships with suppliers to identify best-cost solutions and cost-improving emerging technologies • Work with Engineering and Product Sourcing during new-business quoting to establish reference cost targets • Support Procurement during negotiations with target costing • Collaborate cross-functionally with Procurement, Engineering, Customer Account Management, Manufacturing, and Suppliers to achieve profitability and growth goals

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering • Minimum 5 years work experience in cost engineering of electronic systems, VA/VE of electronic systems, design & development of electronic systems, or electronic system component engineering • Experience with complex components, modules, and assemblies • Proven technical leadership with demonstrated ability to lead and review the work of other cost engineers • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical topics through structured solutions and influence others to drive alignment • Demonstrated ability to break down component costs into constituent costs • Excellent presentation skills and ability to present complex technical topics effectively • Experience working in a fast-paced, highly measured, results-focused environment • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with all levels of a global organization • Accountability and experience leading cross-functional teams to achieve financial and/or transformational targets • Fluency in English • Willingness to travel up to 20%, domestically and internationally • Willingness to work in an EU, North American, or APAC office, or remotely full-time with occasional trips to HARMAN locations • Master’s degree in engineering is nice to have • Minimum 2 years’ experience developing cost models for components, modules, and assemblies is nice to have • Automotive electronic systems experience, including selecting/recommending automotive-grade components, is highly desirable • Ability to share knowledge and best practices is nice to have • Adaptability to changing demands and conditions is nice to have
