📋 Description

• Support the Controller as a secondary contact for assigned client engagements and handle day-to-day client communication as directed • Help ensure accurate financials, clean supporting schedules, and dependable close processes for assigned clients • Communicate with founders, finance leads, and operators, escalating complex or sensitive issues to the Controller • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple client entities • Prepare financial statements, reconciliations, workpapers, and reporting packages for Controller review • Apply accounting judgment across business models and reporting requirements, escalating complex technical questions • Support maintenance and improvement of accounting workflows across GL and upstream systems, including billing, AP, payroll, and finance tools • Identify system gaps, data issues, integration problems, and workflow inefficiencies affecting close quality • Apply AI, automation, and modern workflow tools to improve efficiency, documentation, communication, reconciliations, and scalability • Review work prepared by staff accountants and provide feedback under the Controller's guidance • Support client onboarding, accounting takeovers, historical cleanup, and close-readiness setup • Support audits, reviews, investor diligence, lender diligence, tax requests, and internal process improvement initiatives

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on ownership of close tasks, reconciliations, and financial reporting • Hands-on experience with venture-backed startups, high-growth companies, or similarly dynamic operating environments • Experience communicating directly with clients, founders, or internal stakeholders • Working knowledge of US GAAP, including accrual accounting, deferred revenue, leases, inventory, and fixed assets • Strong systems fluency, including QuickBooks Online, Excel, Google Sheets, and common upstream finance systems such as payroll, AP, spend management, billing, or revenue tools • Strong interest in using AI, automation, and modern workflow tools to improve accounting efficiency and documentation • CPA in progress or equivalent certification • Experience with multi-entity or multi-currency accounting • Experience with deeptech, hardtech, applied AI, robotics, defense, climate, manufacturing, R&D-heavy, or other technically complex companies • Experience with complex business models, including SaaS, usage-based revenue, hardware sales, project accounting, or services revenue
