📋 Description

• Maintain accurate, well-maintained and audit-ready accounting records for month-end close • Post revenue entries in Xero each period and apply the revenue recognition policy • Flag revenue recognition edge cases and judgement calls to the Finance Manager • Prepare and post month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments and non-routine entries • Run the month-end close checklist in Asana and ensure close completes by WD+6 • Complete reconciliations, close tasks, analysis and variance commentary for management reporting • Review journals and reconciliations prepared by less experienced team members and coach them through errors • Oversee the fixed asset register and intercompany reconciliations across Traild entities • Sign off monthly reconciliations to the general ledger • Support the Tax and Compliance Specialist and external audit with workpapers and documentation • Own data quality and integrity in Xero and partner with the BI Analyst on reporting data • Design scalable processes, document SOPs and embed practical AI use cases • Lead a small offshore finance team through expectations, training, feedback and regular one-to-ones

🎯 Requirements

• CA/CPA qualified, or actively working towards it • 5+ years in a technical accounting role • Strong exposure to revenue recognition, month-end close, and multi-entity reconciliations • Experience in a subscription or SaaS business ideally • Deep, hands-on Xero experience • Advanced Excel or Sheets skills for reconciliations and close workpapers • Experience reviewing the work of a more junior or offshore accountant • Experience setting process and quality standards and giving direct feedback • Working understanding of tax treatment and compliance • Comfortable making and defending accounting treatment calls • Methodical and self-managing, with little supervision • Able to explain accounting treatment clearly to non-technical colleagues • Based in Australia, ideally Melbourne or Sydney • Comfortable working with colleagues in another time zone • Strong collaboration, adaptability, hands-on execution and scale-up mindset
