📋 Description

• Own, develop and deliver CWTL’s global strategic partnerships and funding strategy • Monitor education financing, humanitarian and development funding, and impact investment trends • Build and convert a pipeline of multi-year strategic commitments • Lead the transition from grant-dependent income to a diversified funding base • Negotiate blended-finance and outcome-based financing instruments • Lead negotiations with philanthropic funders, impact investors, governments, multilateral institutions, corporate partners and consortium members • Represent CWTL at the most senior external level and act as principal spokesperson for its funding and partnership agenda • Develop and review partnerships and funding policies, including donor acceptance, ethical funding, due diligence, partnership agreements and cost recovery • Ensure compliance with donor requirements, War Child Alliance policy, and legal and regulatory obligations • Oversee partner and donor due diligence and timely donor reporting • Identify, record and mitigate risks • Own annual and multi-year income targets and manage function resources within the approved budget • Line manage, develop and appraise the Fundraising Lead and Partnerships Lead • Design and grow the partnerships and funding function as the portfolio scales • Deputise for the Director as required and participate in the CWTL leadership team

🎯 Requirements

• Educated to degree level, or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field • Senior partnerships or funding leadership experience at director or associate-director level in an organisation of comparable complexity • Demonstrable record of securing significant multi-year strategic funding • Experience of blended finance and/or outcome-based financing • Experience structuring capital from mixed sources • Experience diversifying an organisation’s income base beyond traditional grant funding • Line-management experience, including building and growing a team • Experience leading organisational change and securing buy-in across an organisation and external partners • Experience managing budgets and accountability for income targets • Experience of donor compliance and contractual requirements in an international context • Fluency in English required • Knowledge of education financing, humanitarian and international development funding landscapes, and donor and investor markets • Knowledge of blended finance, outcome-based financing and non-traditional financing instruments • Knowledge of donor compliance, due diligence, and full and indirect cost recovery principles • Advanced negotiation practice, including complex, high-value agreements • Financial literacy sufficient to interrogate financial models, costings and pipeline valuations • Strong grasp of, or demonstrable commitment to, education and children’s outcomes in conflict- and crisis-affected contexts • Criminal Record Certificate required • Compliance with and sign-up to Child Safeguarding policy, Code of Conduct and PSEA: Adults at Risk Policy • Postgraduate qualification in international development, business, finance, public policy or a related discipline is desirable • Experience with ministries of education or government counterparts is desirable • Experience in education, edtech or technology-for-development is desirable • Additional languages such as Arabic, Dari, French, Spanish or Ukrainian may be useful
