📋 Description

• Take end-to-end technical responsibility for a business domain’s data platform, from architecture design through production delivery, monitoring, and ongoing operation • Build reliable, idempotent ETL/ELT pipelines, backend APIs, and data services using Python and SQL • Design, deploy, and manage secure, scalable AWS infrastructure using Terraform • Leverage Wrisk’s core data platform and orchestration frameworks • Contribute reusable tooling to the shared data ecosystem • Optimize data models, query performance, and system architecture • Embed observability, resilience, and automated testing into services • Reduce technical debt and automate repetitive engineering tasks • Improve the overall developer experience • Collaborate with the UK Data Engineering team to translate business goals into pragmatic technical solutions • Onboard into the Wrisk stack and make production contributions • Deliver production-ready pipelines and reusable shared-tooling improvements • Set architectural standards, anticipate performance bottlenecks, and elevate data engineering maturity

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of software/data engineering experience • Proven track record of shipping and operating production systems • Deep expertise writing clean, modular Python • Advanced SQL skills, including database design, data modeling, indexing, and query optimization • Hands-on experience building cloud-native solutions on AWS • Experience managing infrastructure declaratively via Terraform • Skill creating resilient ELT/ETL orchestration workflows • Experience containerizing applications with Docker • Experience designing robust APIs and backend microservices • Product-minded approach to ambiguous objectives and pragmatic technical trade-offs • Proactive, self-directed, high-ownership mindset • Ability to work with minimal supervision and collaborate with the UK Data Engineering team
