📋 Description

• Evolve Xero’s privacy, data, and AI governance frameworks to enable responsible data use and AI adoption and deployment • Partner with cross-functional teams to translate governance policies and requirements into practical, user-friendly guidance • Support adoption of governance guidance at scale • Deliver high-impact literacy programmes and tailored educational resources to improve data and AI capability across Xero • Work with Regulatory, Privacy, and Risk functions to address evolving legislation and customer expectations • Co-design pragmatic data and AI governance approaches addressing bias, transparency, and explainability • Advise decision-makers on governance guardrails for safe experimentation and development • Collaborate with Product, Privacy, Security, Regulatory, Risk, and Government Relations teams • Report to the Director of Data & AI Governance

🎯 Requirements

• Deep knowledge of data governance frameworks and practices • Experience setting up stewardship models and governance forums • Experience supporting data catalogues and data quality platforms • Recent hands-on experience in AI governance • Ability to understand AI systems and navigate ethical, regulatory, and operational challenges of responsible AI at scale • Technical depth in data architecture, data quality, and data lineage • Hands-on experience bridging policy and technical implementation • Ability to translate complex regulatory and policy requirements into clear, actionable guidance for diverse audiences • Ability to explain governance concepts to technical SMEs and technical concepts to policy stakeholders • Familiarity with GDPR, the EU AI Act, and CCPA • Familiarity with ISO 27001/SOC 2 certification frameworks • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and build trust • Growth mindset and drive to automate, improve, and share knowledge
