📋 Description

• Own the accounting function end-to-end, including close, ledger, controls, payroll, order-to-cash, tax, and compliance • Own the close calendar and documented close checklist • Produce consolidated financials and segment P&Ls for both product lines • Perform balance sheet reconciliations, flux analysis, and budget-versus-actual commentary • Provide the CFO with reconciled numbers and schedules for monthly board updates • Manage ASC 606 revenue accounting and deferred revenue schedules • Reconcile billing and payment processors to the general ledger • Manage invoicing, accounts receivable aging, collections, bad-debt reserves, and partner/district billing • Oversee accounts payable, vendor onboarding, corporate cards, expenses, and software-spend visibility • Manage multi-state payroll, registrations, unemployment insurance accounts, W-2 and 1099 processing • Monitor cash position, reserves, working capital, banking and merchant-processor relationships, and free cash flow • Manage federal and state tax filings, sales/use tax, tax nexus, licenses, annual reports, insurance renewals, and compliance • Design and document internal controls and own finance-relevant SOC 2 controls and evidence • Manage external CPA, tax, and audit relationships • Maintain written finance policies • Own the finance stack, including QuickBooks and BambooHR, and automate reconciliation processes • Manage and develop the Senior Accountant • Support unit-economics, pricing, discount, board, and diligence work with cross-functional teams and the CFO

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years in accounting with increasing scope, including 2+ years owning a monthly close start to finish • Hands-on ASC 606 experience in a subscription or deferred-revenue business • Multi-state payroll and multi-state sales/use tax experience • Experience building close processes, checklists, and controls from the ground up • Pre-employment background check and credit check; drug screen may be included • CPA (active or lapsed), or CMA (preferred) • Public accounting background, especially audit (preferred) • SaaS, subscription, or education technology experience (preferred) • Business-to-government, district, or higher-education billing experience (preferred) • SOC 2 or another controls-attestation environment experience (preferred) • Experience at a bootstrapped, profitable company (preferred)
