• Review assigned homeowners claims • Contact insureds and other affected parties • Set expectations and initiate claim documentation in the claim handling system • Analyze policy coverage, provisions, and applicability to reported losses • Identify all applicable policyholder benefits • Create sub-claims when needed or refer complex claims to management or appropriate claim handlers • Investigate claim facts to determine payment, limits, exclusions, and recovery potential • Review damages and determine applicability of state law and other claim factors • Evaluate the financial value of losses • Approve payments to appropriate parties • Refer claims to Underwriting, Recovery Units, or Claims Special Investigation Unit when necessary • Document and code claim files and complete closure activities in the claims management system • Negotiate claim settlements • Handle Homeowner/CAT claims generally valued between $5,000 and $25,000 for the inside desk role • Investigate claims requiring coverage analysis • Review estimates for accuracy • Monitor contractor repair status and updates when needed • Collaborate with internal partners to ensure timely and fair claim outcomes
• Complete ACG Claim Representative Training Program or demonstrate equivalent knowledge or experience • In states where required, eligible to acquire a State Adjuster’s license within 90 days of hire and maintain it as specified • One year of experience with negotiating claim settlements, securing and evaluating evidence, preparing manual and electronic estimates, subrogation claims, resolving coverage questions, taking statements, and establishing claim evaluation and resolution plans • Knowledge of Essential Insurance Act (Michigan) • Knowledge of Fair Trade Practices Act as it relates to claims • Knowledge of subrogation procedures and processes • Knowledge of intercompany arbitration • Knowledge of building construction and repair techniques • Ability to handle claims to Claim Handling Standards • Ability to follow and apply ACG Claim policies, procedures and guidelines • Ability to work within assigned ACG Claim systems, including basic PC software • Ability to perform basic claim file review and investigations • Effective verbal and written communication skills • Customer service skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with insureds/claimants • Problem-solving and sound decision-making skills • Ability to prioritize claim-related functions • Ability to process time-sensitive data and information from multiple sources • Time management, organization, and workload planning skills • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle when required • Ability to research, analyze, and interpret subrogation laws in various states • Ability to travel outside assigned territory, potentially involving overnight stays • Ability to relocate and work evenings or weekends • Strong negotiating skills • Valid driver's license required if primary responsibilities involve in-person inspections or frequent in-person meetings • Associate degree in Business Administration, Insurance, or related field, or equivalent related work experience (preferred) • Completion of Insurance Institute of America's General Insurance Program, Associate in Claims, associate in management, or equivalent (preferred) • Xactimate experience (preferred) • Knowledge of full-cycle claim handling (preferred) • Active Florida adjuster's license (preferred) • Call center or queue calling experience (preferred, not required)
