• Provide advanced and complex risk assessments, sophisticated data analysis, and advanced financial forecasting • Develop complex models and manipulate data for pricing and/or reserving property and casualty insurance products • Design, develop, and generate essential reports and provide recommendations to leadership • Analyze data, develop materials, and prepare communications • Compile and organize data for actuarial review • Prepare reports, proposals, system documents, filing support, and documentation files • Recommend improvements to actuarial methods, analysis, and data-gathering techniques • Present project data, results, and recommendations to management and senior leaders • Provide consultation and clarification regarding complex actuarial and risk assessment models • Provide instruction in basic actuarial methods and techniques to junior analysts • Formulate and interpret complex mathematical rate-making and/or reserving models • Perform ad hoc analyses, including classification, inflation, and tail factor analyses • Support state and regulatory filings and respond to auditors’ and DOIs’ inquiries • Work with IT and business technical support to gather and verify data • Research suitable trend indications and provide material and oral support for recommendations • Perform actuarial adjustments to meet analysis purposes • Lead projects and assignments as required • Coordinate and execute scheduled rate reviews and indications • Prepare competitive product and rate comparison reports • Analyze competitors’ rate structures and coverage • Develop and prepare competitor rate manual analysis
• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or a related field • Successful completion of five or more actuarial examinations • Maintain eligibility in the Actuarial Professional Development Program following department guidelines • Minimum of four years of experience in an actuarial environment • Experience pricing or reserving property and casualty insurance products • Experience formulating and interpreting mathematical rate-making or reserve models • Experience analyzing technical studies and data and drawing sound conclusions • Experience performing research and statistical analysis • Experience with PC software applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint • Experience with statistical software tools and/or statistical modeling concepts • Experience coordinating and executing projects • Experience preparing reports and exhibits for management review • Experience with modeling and complex quantitative analysis • Experience in three or more of: property and casualty rate filings; property and casualty regulatory filings and statements; competitive product and rate comparison analysis reports; actuarial research relating to insurance operations; rating plan or reserving method development, implementation, or enhancement; classification, inflation, and tail factor analysis • Must consent to a background and drug screen if offered employment • Regular and reliable attendance is essential
