• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and maintain complete, accurate, and timely financial records • Maintain financial records in accordance with GAAP and AACOM policies • Lead monthly and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules • Prepare monthly financial statements and distribute departmental reports • Prepare and review bank and investment account reconciliations; monitor daily cash activity and balances • Maintain internal controls and recommend accounting process improvements • Support the annual financial statement audit, Form 990 preparation, and audit or tax requests • Prepare quarterly lobbying reports and other federal, state, or local filings • Assist with annual budget preparation, allocation, monitoring, and analysis • Manage biweekly payroll, review time cards and payroll changes, and reconcile payroll and benefit accounts • Coordinate employee benefit enrollments and changes • Research payroll requirements and coordinate payroll registration and setup in new states • Oversee accounts payable, including invoice processing, approvals, coding, and payment • Administer expense reimbursement and corporate card programs; review reports and reconcile transactions • Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, cash application, aging review, and collection follow-up • Maintain vendor and customer records and support year-end reporting, including Forms 1099 • Supervise, train, and review assigned accounting staff • Serve as a resource to departments on accounting procedures, coding, and financial reporting • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting • At least five years of accounting experience • Strong knowledge of GAAP • Ability to lead and support staff, balance workloads, and ensure accounting responsibilities are completed accurately and on time • Sound judgment and accountability, including problem resolution and appropriate escalation of significant issues • Ability to analyze financial information and improve processes • Ability to support organizational, system, and procedural changes • Ability to communicate financial information, priorities, and expectations clearly to financial and non-financial stakeholders • Ability to foster a collaborative, inclusive, and service-oriented team environment • High degree of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism • Commitment to financial policies and internal controls • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines • Commitment to AACOM’s mission and values • Preferred: experience with nonprofit accounting, grant management, or fund accounting • Preferred: experience using ADP, Sage Intacct, BILL, and Nexonia • Preferred: CPA certification or active progress toward certification • Occasional domestic travel required
