• Oversee and develop innovative special education services for diverse student needs, quality education, and compliance • Contribute to the leadership team and administrative staff; assist with developing and training the school’s special education philosophy • Maintain special education student records and files according to state law and Department of Education guidelines • Suggest and develop policies, procedures, and changes for special education programs and compliance • Hold a reduced student caseload • Maintain compliance with paperwork and service time for the assigned caseload • Maintain confidentiality of student information and professional matters • Work with teaching staff to improve standardized and proficiency testing results • Assist in hiring and oversee training of Special Education staff • Coordinate with agencies providing related student services and manage related contracts and agreements with the supervisor • Participate in ongoing professional training • Provide resources for Special Education staff • Track and plan student accommodations for state and district testing with the Testing Manager • Serve as point of contact for outside agencies and service providers • Collaborate with the State Reporting Coordinator to ensure accurate Special Education data capture and reporting • Participate in faculty meetings, open houses, commencement exercises, student activities, professional learning communities, school problem-solving, and course-of-study preparation • Perform required student home visits • Serve as LEA/District Representative for special education meetings • Perform other assigned duties
• Bachelor’s Degree minimum; Master’s Degree preferred • Active Special Education License in Oklahoma • Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office Suite, Google applications, email, and internet applications • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Genuine care for children and passion for teaching • Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret student data • Flexibility with decision-making, daily challenges, and job duties • Strong sense of integrity • Team-player attitude • Ability to work in a diverse educational community setting • Understanding of the community and student demographics • Understanding of the RTI process • Understanding of state proficiency testing and state teaching standards • Satisfactory completion of state-required criminal history check and health tests • Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds • Must be a resident of Oklahoma
