📋 Description

• Design and engineer utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage (BESS) projects in early-stage development within the West region • Perform production and dispatch modeling, facility layout, project sizing, and preliminary system analysis for early-stage cost estimates • Coordinate internal drafting and civil/geotechnical engineering resources to complete layouts and designs • Support responses to offtake RFPs, permit applications, and interconnection applications • Perform technical due diligence to optimize facility design • Support senior development engineers on technical and engineering matters for assigned projects • Potentially serve as lead project engineer • Develop preliminary plant designs, site layouts, and single-line diagrams • Select primary project equipment, including inverters, PV modules, batteries, and trackers • Model energy production using PVsyst and/or Solar Farmer and model battery dispatch • Conduct remote and in-person site evaluations • Perform technical diligence on production estimates, site plans, product documentation, and meteorological data • Support estimating, development, and commercial teams with project pricing and value engineering • Improve project development processes and design tools • Identify changing trends in project development and provide feedback • Attend site safety walks and identify jobsite hazards • Lead by example

🎯 Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in engineering (electrical or mechanical preferred) or equivalent technical field • 3+ years professional experience in energy system design or consulting • Advanced degrees in a related field may be credited towards years of experience • Proficiency with PVsyst, Solar Farmer, SAM (System Advisor Model), and AutoCAD • Strong communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to work cross-functionally across a large organization • Ability to work effectively in a remote and/or distributed team environment • Ability to manage third party consultants, vendors, and internal stakeholders • Proficiency with MS Office Suite • Obtain and maintain NFPA 70E, OSHA 10, and CPR/First Aid safety certifications • Graduate degree in engineering (nice to have) • EIT or PE qualifications (nice to have) • NABCEP PV Installation Professional certification (nice to have) • Substation/high voltage design experience (nice to have) • Structural/civil/SCADA/Commissioning engineering design experience (nice to have) • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D (nice to have) • Experience with wind, green hydrogen, hydroelectric, nuclear, or data center technologies (nice to have)
