📋 Description

• Lead end-to-end budget management and execution for assigned R&D organizations • Deliver annual budget planning, quarterly forecasts, close activities, leadership reporting, and financial deliverables • Partner with functional leadership and R&D Finance • Translate spending, portfolio, operational, resource, and business-priority changes into forecasts, risks, and recommended actions • Govern budget plans by reconciling actuals and commitments and identifying variances and spending trends • Lead collection, validation, challenge, and synthesis of planning assumptions and long-range spend drivers • Develop leadership-ready financial reporting, analyses, narratives, and decision-support materials • Support productivity initiatives, scenario development, and business cases • Enable capital and operating expense plans through forecasting, funding alignment, and tracking • Provide budget execution support across the procure-to-pay process and resolve escalated issues • Coordinate accruals, purchase order maintenance, forecast updates, and ad hoc financial exercises • Improve dashboards, reporting products, analytics, tools, processes, controls, cycle time, and scalability • Build partnerships across R&D, Finance, FP&A, Strategic Sourcing, transactional finance, and other stakeholders • Manage team members’ day-to-day activities, priorities, assignments, timelines, and expectations • Coach, train, and develop direct reports and team members • Allocate resources and adjust priorities as business needs evolve • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, customer-focused environment

🎯 Requirements

• Doctorate degree and 2 years of biotech/pharma business operations and/or financial analytics experience, OR Master’s degree and 4 years, OR Bachelor’s degree and 6 years, OR Associate’s degree and 10 years, OR high school diploma/GED and 12 years • Advanced degree in business, finance, life sciences, or a related field preferred • Experience in budget management, financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and variance/root-cause analysis • Experience leading professional employees and/or teams, projects, programs, or financial resources • Strong project and operational management experience • Working knowledge of the drug development process and R&D organizations • Ability to translate business priorities into financial forecasts and actionable insights • Experience developing executive- or leadership-level financial narratives, presentations, analyses, and decision-support materials • Ability to analyze complex information and identify trends, implications, risks, and actions • Proficiency with Tableau, Smartsheet, and Microsoft Teams • Advanced Excel skills and strong command of Microsoft Office • Experience with SAP, Ariba, and Anaplan • Ability to leverage automation, digital tools, and AI-enabled solutions • Experience driving continuous improvement and change • Ability to thrive in a complex, matrixed environment and influence without direct authority • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills • Strong relationship-building and customer-service skills • Ability to learn quickly, take initiative, develop others, and improve team execution • Sponsorship for this role is not guaranteed
