• Provides administrative and operational leadership for Federal Direct Loan administration and related Title IV financial aid processes • Supports planning, coordination, and oversight of loan processing operations, including origination, disbursement, reconciliation, adjustments, compliance monitoring, policy and procedure development, staff supervision, and system/process improvements • Serves as a resource to department leadership, staff, and campus partners • Assists in managing the department and advises the Director regarding department requirements and trends • Supervises, trains, and evaluates assigned staff • Monitors work in progress and implements corrective action as needed • Oversees and participates in department budget planning, development, and administration • Prepares or coordinates financial and administrative reports • Analyzes and interprets statistics, financial data, and management planning data • Develops short- and long-range goals, objectives, activities, programs, policies, and procedures • Represents the University at state, regional, and national organizations, boards, councils, committees, and university committees • Acts as liaison with the community, students, faculty, and staff • Designs, develops, and coordinates projects • Resolves department problems and recommends measures to improve effectiveness and efficiency • May act in place of the Director during the Director's absence
• Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field, including two (2) years managerial experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved • Three or more years of progressively responsible experience administering Federal Direct Loans is desired • Experience administering federal Title IV financial aid programs is desired • Experience interpreting and applying federal financial aid regulations, institutional policies, and procedural requirements is desired • Experience reviewing and resolving complex student financial aid eligibility and loan-processing issues is desired • Experience with financial aid systems, student information systems, and federal student aid systems is desired • Comprehensive knowledge of Title IV regulations and Federal Direct Loan eligibility requirements is desired • Working knowledge of U.S. Department of Education systems, including COD, NSLDS, and FPP, is desired • Experience monitoring loan-processing operations is desired • Experience interpreting federal regulations and translating requirements into operational policies, procedures, system requirements, and staff training is desired • Experience developing, reviewing, and maintaining federal student loan administration policies and procedures is desired • Experience identifying compliance risks, processing errors, overawards, and overpayments is desired • Experience conducting quality-control reviews and maintaining auditable financial aid records is desired • Experience collaborating with financial aid systems, compliance, student accounts/business services, enrollment services, and other institutional partners is desired • Experience with financial aid system testing, implementation, upgrades, and process improvements is desired • Experience supervising, training, developing, and evaluating professional staff is desired • Ability to manage multiple operational priorities and processing deadlines in a high-volume financial aid environment • Demonstrated commitment to student-centered service while maintaining institutional and regulatory compliance • Ability to perform office-setting duties involving sitting, keyboarding, mouse use, standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds • Effective communication skills • Cover letter and resume or CV required • Successful completion of criminal background and fingerprint checks required
