📋 Description

• Coordinate and facilitate patient billing and collection activities, including billing, payment posting, collections, payor claims research, and accounts receivable work • Process payments, adjustments, claims, correspondence, refunds, denials, financial/charity applications, and payment plans accurately and timely • Reconcile, balance, and pursue account balances, payments, and denials using payor remits, contracts, customer service, spreadsheets, and collection policies • Research payments, denials, and accounts to identify short/overpayments, contract discrepancies, financial-class errors, and internal/external errors • Submit appeals and make corrections as necessary • Build relationships with business units, hospital departments, and provider offices • Identify payment-issue trends and educate internal and external customers • Respond to incoming calls and make outbound calls to resolve billing, payment, and accounting issues • Reduce accounts receivable balances and achieve patient financial services goals • Document information in systems, provide statistical data, prepare issue lists, and communicate with payors • Work independently under general supervision and report to a Supervisor or Manager

🎯 Requirements

• 1 year patient financial services (Central Billing) or medical claims experience • Experience submitting appeals and understanding EOBs • General knowledge of codes used for claim processing • Must live in one of the listed eligible states: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New York, New Mexico, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, West Virginia, or Wyoming • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge • Knowledge of patient financial services, financial/collecting services, or insurance industry processes • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision and work independently • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills • Strong knowledge of common office software, word processing, spreadsheet, and database software • Work experience with the company’s systems and processes preferred • Previous cash collections experience preferred • Additional related education and/or experience preferred
