📋 Description

• Handle a desk of subrogation claims and tasks across all lines of business • Review first-party claims and evaluate subrogation potential by analyzing loss facts, liability, and recoverable damages • Assign independent adjusters and experts and coordinate subrogation investigations • Identify and pursue recovery from responsible parties and their insurers • Review questionable proposed settlements with the Recovery Unit Team Lead • Contact responsible parties and insurers regarding Company payment demands • Assign and coordinate with subrogation attorneys when disputes arise or enforcement is needed • Review invoices for compliance with company agreements and guidelines • Pursue uninsured motorists, including DMV suspension notifications and restitution requests • Maintain diary systems for follow-up, required actions, and collection results • Maintain claim files using IIS, Apollo, and Duck Creek claims systems • Determine and diary statutes of limitations on recovery files • Review trade journals, case law, state statutes, and insurance policies • Retain and manage outside vendors and experts • Review deductible claim files, verify amounts owed, and issue formal demands • Respond to deductible collection inquiries and resolve disputes • Track payments, recommend write-offs or collection-agency referrals, and advise Underwriting • Coordinate with examiners and claims representatives on deductible and subrogation strategies • Generate deductible invoices and issue reimbursement checks after subrogation recoveries

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree • 1 to 2 years of related work experience • Basic math • Basic literacy in computer knowledge and use • Knowledge of claim investigation practices preferred • Insurance courses such as IIA or AIC in coverage, subrogation, legal principles, legal terminology, contracts, and business law preferred • 1–2 years’ experience in liability and/or subrogation claim handling preferred • Investigation skills • Liability analysis • Negotiation skills • Excellent written and verbal communication • Ability to analyze problems, apply knowledge and logic, and draw appropriate conclusions • Ability to work well with others, especially in confrontational situations • Self-motivated and able to work independently while meeting assigned deadlines • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality • Ability to work with detail and accuracy • Positive and professional demeanor when interacting with internal and external customers
