📋 Description

• Own BioIntelliSense's accounting function and technical accounting file • Draft ASC 606 revenue recognition memos for new and amended customer contracts • Author and maintain accounting policies and technical accounting position papers • Research emerging GAAP guidance and brief leadership on conclusions and required changes • Design and document internal controls and accounting procedures • Administer NetSuite, including chart of accounts, revenue recognition, inventory, MRP, and reporting • Own the full accounting cycle across GL, AP, AR, revenue, deferred revenue, inventory/COGS, fixed assets, payroll, accruals, and equity • Lead the monthly close, including journal entry review, reconciliations, variance analysis, and flux commentary • Prepare GAAP financial statements and reporting packages for the Board, investors, and lenders • Maintain revenue schedules, deferred revenue roll-forwards, and inventory reconciliations • Liaise with external auditors for annual financial statement and 401(k) plan audits • Coordinate tax returns, R&D tax credit studies, Delaware franchise tax, and sales and use tax filings • Manage business, insurance, and statistical surveys and government contract and grant reporting compliance • Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team • Support budgeting, reforecasts, customer profitability, pricing, and Board and investor materials

🎯 Requirements

• Active CPA license • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting from a top-tier university • 3+ years of audit experience at a Big 4 or national public accounting firm, with exposure to technology, life sciences, or medical device clients • 8+ years of total progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or equivalent in a venture-backed or PE-backed operating company • Demonstrated experience drafting ASC 606 revenue recognition memos and other technical accounting position papers reviewed and accepted by external auditors • Deep working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including revenue recognition for multi-element arrangements, inventory costing, leases, and equity • Hands-on experience managing a monthly close and preparing complete financial statements and footnotes • NetSuite ERP experience, ideally as administrator • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills • Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing AI tools including Claude models, creating projects and artifacts • Experience with hardware plus SaaS or device plus data-service business models, distributor arrangements, and government or grant-funded contracts • Experience with inventory and manufacturing accounting, including contract manufacturers and standard costing • Exposure to fundraising diligence, convertible notes, preferred stock, and cap table administration • Experience implementing or optimizing NetSuite modules (Advanced Revenue Management, MRP, Fixed Assets) • Technical writing and communication skills • Critical thinking and analytical acumen • People leadership and cross-functional collaboration • Strong organizational skills, integrity, accountability, and confidentiality
